In this study, researchers compared several rotary file systems, and found that files produced with advanced thermal treatments, such as EdgeEndo’s EdgeOnyx, demonstrated significantly greater flexibility than conventionally manufactured instruments. Increased flexibility allows files to better maintain the original canal anatomy, particularly in curved canals, while reducing the risk of canal transportation and instrument separation. These findings reinforce the importance of metallurgy in endodontic instrument design, highlighting how enhanced flexibility can contribute to safer, more efficient shaping procedures and improved treatment outcomes. While additional research is needed to evaluate long-term clinical performance, the study supports the growing role of heat-treated NiTi technology in modern endodontics.
