Important – Reference Numbers are Changing

When you receive the new version of your product, you’ll notice an updated reference number on the packaging. This new REF appears at the top left of the blister, next to the REF symbol.

Invoices and packing slips will continue to display the current REF or SKU with no changes. The product packaging will display the updated REF number, which includes either “HTS” or “ASST.”

Searching either number on the EdgeEndo online store will return the correct product.

Below you’ll find the updated REF numbers for all files that have transitioned to the new packaging.

FAQs – General

What updates are being made to Edge NiTi files?

Edge NiTi files are getting a refreshed look along with major convenience upgrades including pre-sterilized blister packaging, a more robust stopper, refined calibration lines and shorter handles on some systems.

Will the performance of the files change with these updates?

No. You’ll continue to experience the same trusted feel and dependable performance Edge NiTi files are known for at the same significant savings compared to competitor file systems.

What are the benefits of the new blister packaging?

The pre-sterilized, secure, easy-open blister packs let you go straight from pack to patient, saving valuable chair time and simplifying your workflow.

What improvements were made to the stopper and calibration lines?

The files now feature a more robust stopper for better control and enhanced calibration lines for increased precision.

What is the benefit of a shorter handle?

Our previous handles ranged from 11–13 mm. We’ve standardized them to the shortest length possible to improve ergonomics and provide easier access in challenging posterior cases with limited opening.

When will I start receiving the updated files?

Updated packaging and product features will begin rolling out soon. You will automatically receive the upgrade including files as inventory transitions. See above table for timing.

Why does the file color look different?

It is not unusual for treated Nickel Titanium (NiTi) to have variation in coloration as a result of processing of the material through manufacturing. Due to the nature of certain reactive alloy metals; like Titanium, the appearance of bright colors is not unusual. The creation of microscopic oxide layers on the outer skin of the product; which in turn, are burned off at different levels during the heat treatment cycle, creates this illusion of colors. The color array is a result of the thickness of the oxide layer and associated wavelengths of light, conditions developed during the manufacturing and heat treat processes. As a result, although controlled within strict specifications, the normal variation of the manufacturing processes will affect the coloration of the product. These manufacturing processes include work hardening/stress relieving, machining processes, and heat treatment. The inherent variation within each of these operations impacts the oxidization layer and is reflected in the differences in color of a products outer skin. In fact, subtle variations of color can be seen within the same batch of material and within a single heat treat lot. However, this coloration does not have any bearing on the internal heat capacity of the metal; therefore, this very thin and transparent oxidation layer has no effect on the mechanical or transitional phases of the product.

FAQs – Reference Number Update

Has the reference number changed on the packaging?

Yes. The reference number is nearly identical to the previous versions of the X7 and X3 packaging, however “RF” has been replaced by “HTS,” which stands for heat treated sterile. For example, “X7300621RF” has been replaced with “X7300621HTS.” You can use either number to search for the product on our online store.

All EdgeSequel and EdgeSequel Sapphire sku suffixes will now end in ASST or HTS.

New REF numbers will be present on the back of product packaging. See “Order SKU ↔ Packaging [REF] Cross-Reference” tab in store for specifics.

Will the reference number on invoices or packing slips change?

No—these will continue to show the current REF/SKU you’re used to.

Why does the number on the package look different?

Because of the new sterile blister presentation, the packaging has been updated with a new REF number (HTS=Heat Treated Sterile)

Where can I find the new REF number on the packaging?

It’s located at the top left of the blister, next to the REF symbol.

Are the old and new reference numbers linked?

Yes, searching either number on the EdgeEndo online store will return the correct product.

Do I need to update anything in our system?

No changes are needed at this time. You can continue using the current REF/SKU for ordering and processing.

What if I get confused between the two numbers?

Totally understandable—just remember: paperwork = old REF/SKU, packaging = new REF. If you’re unsure, searching either number on the EdgeEndo online store will return the correct product.
